Superintendent Search

Aleutians East Borough School District 

Sand Point, Alaska

The seven-member Board of Education of the Aleutians East Borough School District is conducting a search for a Superintendent. The board is especially interested in applicants with outstanding central office and/or school level administrative experience. Candidates should have successful experience working with diverse communities, deploying resources strategically, and an appreciation and desire for rural living. The new superintendent is expected to begin work on July 1, 2023.

A salary range of $120,000-130,000 with an attractive benefits package is being offered to the successful candidate. A housing stipend and district vehicle are also provided.

Bristol Bay Borough School District

Naknek, Alaska

The Association of Alaska School Boards (AASB) is facilitating a superintendent search for the Board of Education of the Bristol Bay Borough School District. The School District is located in Southwestern Alaska at the head of Kvichak (KWEE-jak) Bay, an arm of the larger Bristol Bay. The district is positioned in one of Alaska’s most breathtaking regions and serves 114 students.

The Board is offering an annual salary in the range of $130,000-$135,000 DOE. In addition, a health insurance benefits package that is available to all other district employees is provided. The Board offers professional membership dues, a life insurance stipend, an annual travel stipend, and a negotiated moving expense reimbursement.

Copper River School District – Glennallen, Alaska

The Board of Education of the Copper River School District, Glennallen, Alaska, is seeking a highly qualified, fully certified, educational leader to serve as Superintendent. The Board wishes to have the successful candidate assume the responsibilities of the position, July 1, 2023.

Pelican City School District 

The Pelican City School District is seeking to hire a .25 FTE (65 days) Superintendent for the 2023-2024 school year. 45 days are to be on-site during school days. 1 travel day each trip will count as an on-site service day.

The superintendent will be responsible for working directly with the PCSD Board of Education. He/She will manage the budget, complete all DEED paperwork, supervise/evaluate certified staff, complete and manage all state and federal grant programs, lead the development of contracted services, maintain the facilities and ensure that all maintenance reports are completed on time.

Unalaska City School District

The Association of Alaska School Boards (AASB) is facilitating a superintendent search for the Board of Education of the Unalaska City School District. The School District is located on the island of Unalaska along the Aleutian Island chain (~800 air miles from Anchorage) on the ancestral lands of the Unangan people. The district is positioned in one of Alaska’s most remote and breathtaking regions and serves 340 students. The student population is highly diverse and includes Unangan, Filipino, Pacific Island, African-American, Russian, Hispanic, and European. Commercial fishing is the primary economy. The port of Unalaska/Dutch Harbor has been the top fishing port for seafood in the country for over 20 years.
