Annually, the Alaska Superintendents Association (ASA) through its Honorary Membership Award, recognize former members who have provided exemplary service to ASA and elevated the stature of Alaskan administrators by their example. The nomination process and selection is guided by:
Active Membership: membership in ASA (state and national); attendance at association meetings; leadership as an ASA officer/director; leadership as an ASA National Governing Board member; Superintendent of the Year designation; and recipient of a major educational leadership award.
Service in Leadership Capacity: number of years in school administration; volunteer for educational committees; legislative efforts on behalf of education and administrators; contributions to local education issues; services to students, staff and community; and continued interest in public education since retiring.
